Brief Abstract

Effective teaching requires facilitating an engaging experience for adult learners to create memorable experiences and connections. Collaborating with peers helps drive thought leadership in the department benefitting everyone. Presenters

Chinue Uecker, DBA (Chin) has over 20 years of experience in Leadership, Operations, and Strategy. She has worked as a Chemical Engineer, Operations Manager, Strategy Manager, Master Black Belt, and Management Consultant. She has successfully led initiatives across the Americas, Australia, China, Europe, and Japan; deployed a patient experience model resulting in $700,000 in cost savings; managed a cancer center's telehealth program; led the strategic planning and KPI development for ten government agencies; supported an international life sciences global supply chain initiative; delivered $195,000 in total impact to 95 volunteer capacity building projects; and managed several CDC-funded behavioral health, diabetes prevention, and vaccination programs serving underserved populations. She has taught at the university level, delivered workshops as a Facilitator/Trainer, presented at national conferences and on the radio, and published articles focused on strategy, operational excellence, and leadership practices. She has a BA in Chemistry from the University of Chicago, a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago, an MBA from Marquette University, and a DBA from Walden University with a Healthcare Management specialization. She is a certified Master Black Belt and Strategic Planning Professional. She served as a dissertation committee member twice, a facilitator for 6 DEI and leadership symposiums globally, an industry mentor for the UNCF Teaching and Learning Center 2022 Faculty Fellow Program, and an advanced placement mentor for four Masters of Public Health students. Additionally, she serves as the Board Chair for the Boys and Girls Club of St. Thomas/St. John and reviewer for the Academy of Management, Southern Management Association, and Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA).

Effective teaching requires facilitating an engaging experience for adult learners, meeting them where they are, ensuring they have the resources to succeed, and sharing knowledge to create memorable experiences and connections. Faculty members and coaches must build their capabilities, collaborate, stay current with technology, and remain up-to-date in their respective fields, while motivating adult learners and staying balanced. This presentation will discuss tips, strategies, and tools faculty members in India and the United States have used to provide meaningful experiences with adult learners and collaborate with peers.
