“Oops I Did It Again:” Using Pop Culture to Build Community and Make Learning Fun (A Block Party Breakout Session)

Brief Abstract

“I feel the need, the need for…” an engaging session about using pop culture to foster a sense of community and support learning. Incorporating pop culture into your classroom can be an engaging way to connect with students and make learning fun. Come join this session if you want to learn a “particular set of skills.” We will explore ways to meaningfully engage with content through pop culture references and build community along the way. “Go ahead, make my day,” and join us for a session filled with laughs, obscure references to movies, TV, and music, and some learning mixed in.
